Slow-moving stock provision
A reserve against stock that age or overstock says will not sell at full value.
Products and stock → Stock provisions sizes a reserve against stock that is not moving.
Two ways to the target
- Stock-age matrix: a percentage for each band of days since the item last went out.
- Coverage: months of stock on hand against the rate it actually sells; the excess over your threshold is provisioned.
What counts as movement
Only stock going out: sold, consumed, issued. A delivery does not reset the clock: stock that only ever arrives is exactly what this is for. Something new that has not sold yet is not treated as old until it has genuinely been sitting.
Posting
Post adjustment moves the reserve to its target and books the difference. Every item on the list says why it is there: its age, its rate and its provision.
