What we promise, what we do not, and what happens if you leave.

The short version. Your books are yours and you can take them with you at any moment, in one click, at no cost. We keep the service running and back it up nightly, but we are a small operation and cannot promise it will never be down: so keep your own copy of anything you could not bear to lose. Use it lawfully. Either of us can walk away.
Elvira Books is accounting software with a point of sale attached. It runs in your browser, keeps a copy of your books on your own device, and synchronises them with a server so they follow you between devices.
Using it means accepting these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you are confirming that you may.
We claim no ownership of anything you put into Elvira. We do not sell it, we do not mine it, and we do not use it to train anything.
You can export everything, yourself, whenever you like, at no cost. There is no step where leaving is made difficult, and no fee for it. Software that holds your accounts hostage is not software anyone should trust with their accounts.
There is no guaranteed uptime, and you should keep your own backups. This is a small, independent product on a single rented server. It can go down. A hosting provider can fail. Our nightly copies protect against mistakes, not against every disaster: so take your own export regularly and keep it somewhere else. That advice would be sound for any accounting system; we would rather say it than imply otherwise.
The software is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it is free of faults, nor that it satisfies every rule that applies to your business. Elvira helps you keep your books; it does not make us your accountant, and nothing in it is professional or tax advice. What you file remains yours to confirm.
Do not use Elvira to break the law, to keep records you know to be false, to attack or overload the service, to attempt to reach another customer's information, or to resell access without our agreement.
The first year is free and no card is required. Beyond that, pricing has not yet been set: you will be told what it is, and given the choice, before anything is charged to you. Where charges apply, they are stated before you are charged. Prices may change with notice; a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost business or indirect losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Nothing here limits anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
If these terms change we will update this page and the date at the top, and tell you directly if the change is significant. Continuing to use Elvira after that means accepting the new version.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its courts have jurisdiction.
